Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
As a bilingual licensed clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience in medical and community-based settings, I have supported people coping with chronic medical conditions, depression, anxiety, academic and learning concerns, trauma, and neurodivergence. Having lived, traveled, and worked in a diversity of regions throughout my early adulthood and career, I have built strong relationships with people from all walks of life. These experiences have informed my perspective and values as a professional and a human. Are you looking for shorter term support in addressing a particular relationship or stressor? Perhaps you are feeling stuck in anxiety or low energy and need a gentle nudge to “get moving” on something. Or maybe you view therapy as a more gradual, exploratory process. I view you as the expert on your life experiences and needs, and myself as a non-judgmental adviser and holder of hope on your healing journey. I approach each session with curiosity, realness, and humility. My therapeutic interventions are rooted in cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, and attachment theories and I value and support the exploration of intersecting identities and the impact of systemic bias, racism, and privilege on mental, interpersonal, and community wellbeing. Regardless of our focus, I am committed to providing a safe and supportive space as we face life's challenges together, and my hope is that you will leave each session feeling both challenged and nurtured.

My professional experience has provided opportunities to work in a variety of clinical settings including correctional & substance abuse facilities. However, my work as a Child Welfare Caseworker has strongly driven my passion for working with children, adolescents, and adults as it relates to previous & current trauma, adoption, attachment, and relationship issues. Also specializing in anxiety, depression, grief/loss, adjustment, and other areas of concern. Together we will explore how negative thoughts and experiences have reinforced the perception of oneself and outside world, and how to replace negative thinking patterns to increase self-worth leading to fulfilling relationships and connections. I view the counseling process as forming a trusting relationship with you to explore the nature of who you are, why you are, and the nature of the problems you face. I use an eclectic approach including a variety of counseling theories to meet an individual where they are at as a way to address their personal needs. I am passionate about helping individuals determine or rediscover their values and beliefs which create their true authentic self, as my work is grounded in empathy, non-judgement, and inclusivity. Finding the right therapist to meet your needs is crucial, I am available as you take the next steps toward your mental health.

A lot of people say they knew at a young age they would be a therapist, but that wasn’t me. I grew up in a military family and thought I would continue that tradition and be a stay-at-home mom. Instead, I found myself in a journalism career and a marriage I didn’t like. Starting over after 30, I chose to return to school and pursue a degree in social work. Since then, I’ve worked with the military, in inpatient facilities, and in outpatient care. I love working with women who find themselves “outside the box” when it comes to societal expectations (child-free/childless, unmarried, or just a-plain-ol’ rebel). I love to focus on resiliency, self-improvement/self-esteem, personal growth, and even a bit of spirituality (if that's your thing). I'm a very laid-back, nontraditional therapist. I believe you are the expert in your own life and, sometimes, we just need some guidance or permission to do the things we know we need to do. I don't assign homework cause, frankly, I wouldn't do it if I were in your shoes, but I will suggest some tasks or actions that may be something to focus on between sessions. I also expect clients to show up with a discussion topic or something to start us off with; again, the time is yours to use as you feel best. I have very eclectic interests. Two things that are very important to me are spirituality and non-traditional relationships. I feel both have their own challenges and prejudices to overcome. I'm always looking for ways to include and incorporate my client's spiritual beliefs (if they choose to share) into sessions and help them build a strong foundation. Nontraditional relationships (including kink dynamics) can be a challenge to bring to therapy as there's often a perceived level of judgment—not here! I celebrate however your relationship looks and work to help you create the most nurturing and healthy relationship however that looks. One of my core values is curiosity, so I love it when I get to learn a little something from my clients. Having grown up in a military family that moved every three years like clockwork, learning about people and cultures has been a huge part of my life. I encourage my clients to practice showing and embodying their authenticity with me so they may go out into the world more confidently. I believe we all have something beautiful to share and learn from each other and I encourage those I work with to explore that on a deeper level.

We offer real-world guidance in making positive changes in your life and remain on your side throughout. My goal is to create a safe relationship where you can process all the pieces of your experience. We’ll look together at how your cultural identities and family context have shaped how you experience the world, and how your past impacts your present. We’ll approach your relational patterns with a sense of curiosity and compassion. We'll explore, “How did I get here, what does it mean to be here, and where do I want to go?". Whatever is bringing you to therapy, I hope to provide a space where you can face your difficulties in order to restore connection, both to yourself and to the most important people in your life. My approach is warm and direct, and I'm informed by training in attachment, trauma, grief & loss, perinatal mental health, infertility, emotional agility, embodiment, religious deconstruction, brain science, cultural influences, privilege & oppression, HAES, and couple/family systems. I am accepting new clients and I'd love to meet you! For CO: in-network with Aetna and Cigna. For IL: in-network with BCBS. I also partner with a company called Mentaya that helps clients access their out-of-network benefits. You may be eligible to receive partial reimbursements for your sessions. Contact me for more info. If you have any questions about anything on my profile, feel free to reach out!
I am a sex-positive, polyamory-affirming, and kink-informed therapist. I draw from an eclectic knowledge base that includes queer theory, disability justice, anti-racism, intersectionality, and fat liberation. My clinical perspective is influenced by attachment theory, humanistic theory, and systems theory. I have been trained in many evidence-based modalities, such as ACT, CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, and others. I do not believe that anyone can truly provide therapy from an objective lens and welcome your questions about how my training and lived experience inform the way we interact. I approach therapy from a relational, strengths-based, and person-centered lens. This means I will tailor our therapeutic work to your specific goals and strengths, allowing you to lead as the expert of your own experiences. I do not incorporate any particular structure into sessions and allow you to guide us to what feels relevant to you in the moment. My clients meet with me at all types of frequencies from twice weekly to once a month. This depends on the intensity of your mental health challenges, my current openings, and your processing style.

It can often feel challenging figuring out how to navigate major life transitions and stressors and I am here to offer support, help you feel heard and work with you to develop the skills to feel more in control of your life. I want to understand your unique experiences and values so that we can work together to identify the root of your struggles, build on your strengths and find solutions to your most pressing concerns. Whether you are struggling with stress and anxiety, relationship issues, finding your identity, feeling overwhelmed, amongst other concerns, I welcome the opportunity to talk with you to see if we are a good fit to work together or to answer any questions you may have. In addition to having extensive experience working with adolescents and young adults, I have specialized training in women's health issues, including infertility, pregnancy and postpartum.
At Apricity Horizons Counseling, we see therapy not as a last resort, but as an empowered choice—a courageous step toward growth and self-understanding. We offer client-centered care that honors your voice and adapts to your needs, creating flexible, personalized treatment plans that support healing from the past, grounding in the present, and hope for the future.
I enjoy learning about clients from a very dynamic perspective - where they came from, how they are now, and who they wish to become. I look forward to working with you and watching you grow into the person you have always wanted to be. I am trained in both short term (6-10 sessions) and long term therapy, and encourage clients to make their own decision regarding what they need from therapy. I also do stand-alone evaluations for emotional support animal letters.

Open Hearted Minds (OHM) operates on the concept that treating the psyche and soul is a blend of evidenced based practices with sound science as well as respecting the client's lived experiences. I specialized in mood disorders, trauma, addiction and identity development.
There's something different about you. Maybe you're figuring out what sexuality, gender, and romantic life can look like, or exploring polyamory or kink. Maybe you're a plural system. Or maybe your life has been changed by traumatic experiences. You may view the world through a neurotype or spiritual lens that doesn’t match the people around you. It might be really hard to trust people--to risk opening up about what you're dealing with. I get it. It’s hard to know who actually has your back. And trying to find the right counselor when you're already struggling with so much can feel impossible. That's where I come in. My job is to listen--to get to know you and help you shape your life into what *you* want it to be. As your therapist, I'll help you work toward the life you want, based on your specific situation and needs. I won't blame you, or try to change you in ways that you don't want, or force you to talk about things that are too hard. You might feel overwhelmed, but you've made it this far. You're taking steps toward feeling better--feeling okay. I know you're in pain, and I believe you're doing your best. But when things aren't working, you don't have to try to figure it all out alone. Send me an email, or a text, or a phone call. We can figure it out from here, together.
With over 7 years of clinical experience, I specialize in providing evidence-based care to individuals navigating depression, anxiety-related disorders, trauma, and mood disorders. I specialize in helping individuals recovery from eating disorders, disordered eating, compulsive/obligatory exercise, body image distress and associated anxiety and depression. I practice virtually in Colorado so accessing counseling is flexible and convenient. I understand the challenges of academic rigor at Mines and have worked with many Mines students -undergrad and grad. Fun fact: I majored in Chemistry and decided in the end I was more interested in people than molecules. I've been supporting people in eating recovery for over a decade. My clients tend to find me approachable, non-judgmental, and action oriented.
