Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
Welcome to Therapy Haven! I have experience working with college age clients. I work with individuals and couples on relational issues, stress, anxiety and more. Clients enjoy working with me because I am warm, engaging and relatable. I create a safe therapeutic space to explore all that my clients bring to sessions. I have a cozy office in Arvada for in-person sessions, and offer virtual therapy as well.
I graduated from the University of Colorado at Denver with an M.A. in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Couple and Family Therapy. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Certified Sex Therapist through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists. I am extensively trained in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and EMDR. I have been in private practice since 2010. My primary areas of focus are relationships, sexuality, trauma, depression and anxiety. My therapeutic approaches are based in Attachment Theory, Experiential Theory and Trauma Theory. I enjoy helping clients to access emotions, understand motivations and deepen relationships (with themselves and others). My style is warm, authentic and collaborative. I pride myself on being straightforward and honest and want to help people to genuinely connect with themselves and significant others. I truly enjoy my work and have a great deal of respect for my clients’ efforts and progress. I am proud to have worked with people from a variety of cultures, backgrounds, sexual orientations, gender identities, and religious/spiritual traditions.
As a therapist my goal is to serve as a thought partner to recognize, analyze, and eventually untie the tethers that hold clients back from their best lives. Together, with nature as our muse, we will embark on this work. Therapy is an iterative process by which participants are able to free themselves and recognize their own purpose and power.

I'm committed to helping my clients transform difficulty into opportunity, gain new perspective, and to re-discover their truth so they can be as happy as possible. I received my Masters from Regis University graduating with honors. My professional experience consist of working with individuals, couples, and groups since 1991. The majority of my experience is working with adults having challenges with relationships, difficult emotional issues, and in simply learning to live a happy life.I work with people who are committed to their own personal growth and willing to make the necessary changes to be true to themselves and have integrity with others. I incorporate traditional therapeutic approaches in a compassionate yet direct manner as well as hypnotherapy, Sensorimotor therapy, Relational trauma therapy from Pia Melodies work, & cognitive-behavioral therapy. .I have a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Regis, in addition to my private practice I facilitated groups at West Pines hospital- psychiatric and chemical dependency units. I have been a meditation practitioner and instructor for 15 years. In terms of psychological well being meditation is one of the best a methods in reducing stress, anxiety, addiction, and depression. When meditation is combined with other therapies, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, the combination is 50% more successful than CBT alone .
I help students who are motivated to reduce their level of anxiety and stress, so they can not only be successful in their academic journey, but actually enjoy this amazing time in their life. I also work with clients who struggle with depression, relationship issues, social anxiety and social isolation. I offer my clients practical solutions and a warm, safe, accepting environment.
My therapeutic approach centers on the holistic well-being of individuals, with a particular focus on working with millennial female clients. My aim is to facilitate, through a strengths-based approach, your therapeutic journey towards enhanced well-being and deeper insight into your thoughts and behaviors (as well as understanding the roots of our cognitive and behavioral patterns). While my therapeutic toolbox encompasses Reiki, EMDR, IFS, and mindfulness techniques, I customize therapy sessions to suit each individual, allowing for flexibility beyond these established frameworks. I'm licensed in CO, TX, MT, OR, ID, WY, WA, and FL.

I utilize Internal Family Systems (IFS) as my primary modality. IFS provides an opportunity to look inside yourself and learn why you do the things you do, think the way you think, and how all the parts of you work together. You will learn how to listen to, and learn from, those nagging voices in your head. Once we start listening and learning, a depth of understanding will occur that allows for healing of wounds and releasing of inaccurate beliefs about yourself.

Our varied educational and professional backgrounds mean that we’re ready to help a wide variety of clients. We utilize a variety of approaches and techniques that will work for YOU, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, mindfulness-based therapies, solution-focused therapy, narrative therapy, existential therapy, emotion-focused couples therapy, and others. Your stress has been building for FAR too long; you can't remember the last time you weren’t so overwhelmed or anxious. You can't stand how irritable you’ve become, especially around those you love. Your go-to de-stressors just aren't cutting it anymore - or it's a struggle to use them, and you’re growing tired of your own procrastination, rumination, and withdrawing from others. You want to be more present in your life & relationships. You want to feel like your old self again - or a new, calmer self - on a path of continued growth and success. I can help by co-creating a brave & safe space and validating you - especially when it feels like no one understands. With Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), we can help you feel quick relief from prior traumas and distresses, eliminate triggers, and move forward feeling lighter and calmer. We'll rebuild coping skills for relief now & prevention later. I'll challenge you (with care), offer accountability, and use your strengths to help you meet your goals. Ideally, we'll also laugh together and connect as humans. Prior to private practice, I worked at colleges and universities for 14 years, supporting students in times of stress and help them be successful. I am passionate about supporting and guiding individual adults aged 18+ of all identities through: Anxiety Life transitions Career or education challenges Grief and loss Well-being, personal growth goals Conflicts Trauma You're struggling now and contacting therapists only to then wait for responses is frustrating. I do free, confidential phone consults to make sure that I can be of help to you before you commit to a counseling session. Many different disorders can be improved or be eliminated by using neurofeedback. First a QEEG is collected. This involves placing a cap on the client’s head and collecting brain wave information from 19 specific sites. This information is processed, and a brain map is produced. The therapist then evaluates the data, completes a comprehensive health history, and then based on both symptoms and goals, develops an individualized protocol of successive neurotherapy sessions. Treatment is noninvasive, is not painful, but does require a commitment. Just as you must work out your body consistently to see results, neurofeedback sessions must be completed two to three times a week to be beneficial. The neurofeedback treatments involve placing sensors on the scalp. The sensors pick up brainwave signals which are first amplified and then filtered through software that works with a computer to generate real time feedback. The brain activity is either increased or decreased in the identified areas until the optimal balance is achieved The typical treatment plan will vary from individual to individual, but most common disorders can be resolved in about 40 sessions.
