Therapists for college students near Boulder, CO
My name is Michelle Kennedy, and I am a licensed clinical social worker who works with young adults navigating identity, relationships, sexuality, trauma, and major life transitions. I know that college and early adulthood can be exciting, confusing, overwhelming, and deeply transformative all at once. Therapy can be a space where you don’t have to have everything figured out. As a queer woman and part of the LGBTQ+ community, I’m especially passionate about supporting LGBTQ+ individuals who are exploring their identity, questioning their sexuality, coming out, navigating family dynamics, or learning how to live more authentically. Whether you’re confident in who you are or still figuring things out, I strive to create a space that feels affirming, safe, and free of judgment. My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I believe healing happens through connection, honesty, and feeling truly seen. I work with clients experiencing anxiety, relationship challenges, grief, stress, self-esteem struggles, and the impact of past trauma, including abuse, neglect, and loss. Many of the people I work with are trying to reconnect with themselves, build healthier relationships, and feel more at home in their own lives. My goal is to help you better understand yourself, heal from painful experiences, and move toward a life that feels grounded, meaningful, and authentic to who you are.
Hello! My name is Megan McConnell and I am the owner and therapist of Inner Abundance Counseling based in Denver, CO. My clients come from a variety of backgrounds and circumstances, but are united by the feeling that they are not yet living their best, most fulfilling lives. They feel blocked from accessing the joy, connection, and sense of purpose they desire by issues like past traumas, anxiety, depression, and perfectionism. They want to be their authentic selves and live each day with intention, but need some help figuring out how best to do so. I have 6+ years of experience and have helped hundreds of clients like you achieve their goals. I aim to understand each of my clients as the unique individuals that they are, and if we work together I will customize my treatment approach according to what will best serve your needs. I balance compassion and validation of your experiences with direct feedback that will help you recognize and take advantage of opportunities for growth. We will know therapy is working when you start to feel more present, grounded, and content, and are able to show up to your work, relationships, and play in all the ways you value.

Everyone is welcome in our clinic! An outpatient therapy center dedicated to helping people become their best selves. We have a team of providers at different stages of their professional journeys who provide an array of therapy types. We offer in-person and Telehealth sessions, and are currently accepting most Medicaid and self-pay clients. Our providers see all ages, races, religions, genders, and sexual orientations. We offer individual, couple, and family sessions on a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly basis.
I believe issues in our lives arise from a lack of connection to others and to the internal parts within ourselves. Once we strengthen these connections and resolve inner conflict, we are able to reach a state of feeling more integrated and authentic. You are the expert of yourself and I will honor that in our work together. As a counselor, I view my role as walking next to you while you process the areas of your life that are troubling you. We will know you have gotten what you needed from our work together when you feel empowered to navigate your life's challenges confidently.

We consider the whole person when considering your care needs. We know that college brings all kinds of unique challenges-balancing family, school, friends, work and fun can create all kinds of chaos. We will work to help you figure out the balance. Growing up comes with unique challenges at every stage, whether you’re a child, teen, young adult, or family seeking support. As a licensed professional counselor, my passion lies in helping individuals and families navigate life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and the connection between therapist and patient is at the heart of meaningful progress. That’s why I work collaboratively with you to build a meaningful, trusting therapeutic relationship grounded in a trauma-informed, patient-centered approach. My goal is to offer a safe, inclusive space where you can develop effective coping skills, build self-awareness, and move toward the lasting growth and well-being you deserve. As a person of color, creating a culturally inclusive space is something I hold with great intention. Representation matters, and I strive to offer every patient the opportunity to work with a therapist who can understand and genuinely relate to their lived experience. My approach is integrative and shaped entirely around your unique needs and goals. Within our therapeutic relationship, you'll find a space that is both safe and encouraging, one where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences freely. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing, and incorporating art- and play-based techniques when working with children and adolescents, sessions are designed to meet you where you are. Together, we'll work to uncover patterns, work through life's experiences, and build practical coping tools that support your growth. My path to becoming a therapist is deeply personal. My own experiences in therapy, navigating anxiety, and growing up with divorced parents gave me firsthand insight into the power of healing and the importance of having the right support in your corner. That foundation shapes the care and empathy I bring to every session. With four years of experience in private group practice and school-based settings, I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, adolescents, and families through a wide range of challenges. Most recently, as a school-based therapist, I helped young people strengthen focus, build peer relationships, and develop practical coping skills they could carry into every area of their lives. Experience in a day treatment setting has further deepened my understanding of more intensive support needs. This background gives me a strong understanding of today's educational environment and the pressures students and families face, and I am well-equipped to support you in advocating for your needs within the school system. Originally from Chicago, I’ve called Colorado home since 2015. Outside of the therapy room, time with family, friends, and dogs brings me a lot of joy, as does exploring the great Colorado outdoors through hiking and paddle boarding. Trying new restaurants, catching live music, reading, and watching scary movies round out life away from work.
Ready to become unstuck and empowered to take charge of your deepest struggles? Many aspects of our lives can make us feel completely powerless, but having a therapeutic guide can remind us of what we already know about ourselves while pushing us to think outside the box, discover personal meaning, and branch out of our comfort zones. I enjoy using creative, trauma-informed therapeutic interventions that will help you embrace your complex and beautifully human life journey. I’m ready to meet you where you are with intuition and empathy. Together, we can initiate healing that leads you toward confidence, fulfillment, and wholeness. You may feel stuck in repeating family patterns, unprocessed trauma, mood instability, low self-esteem, identity confusion, unwanted substance use, or disconnection from yourself. Regardless of the presenting challenges and diagnoses, I often focus on how your struggles relate to and are impacted by the systems in which you exist, such as family, intimate relationships, friendships, work, and society as a whole. I also believe therapy can hold both depth and humanity. Humor, authenticity, and genuine connection are part of the process. Even when we’re discussing difficult or uncomfortable topics, you will be met with openness, curiosity, and no judgment. I'd love to hear from you if you have questions or are interested in involving me in whatever journey you're on!
I'm an LGBTQIA+, anxiety, and trauma therapist, working with students across Colorado. Do you feel weighed down by anxiety, trauma, identity struggles, or the lasting impact of religious harm? Many of my clients are LGBTQIA+ adults or survivors of religious trauma who carry exhaustion, dread, and fear from living in systems that questioned, silenced, or shamed who they are. Clients also come to me with anxiety, which often shows up as hypervigilance, burnout, or the ache of feeling like you're not enough. You may long for healing and the freedom to be fully yourself. You are not alone, healing is possible, and your story matters. I provide affirming, trauma-informed therapy rooted in narrative, somatic, and liberation-focused practices. Together we’ll untangle harmful messages that have shaped you, teach your body to feel safe, calm your nervous system, and re-author the stories holding you back. You'll reclaim your identity while moving toward a more authentic and empowered life. As a queer-affirming, feminist, and anti-oppressive therapist, I offer care that is tender, respectful, and at the right pace for you. Whether you’re healing from trauma, recovering from a harmful spiritual background, or seeking growth beyond anxiety or hard life transitions, I'll walk with you in it. If you’ve landed here you are probably seeking connection, and hope to find the right professional to support you. Something has gotten in the way, or you’ve lost your way to a life that is rich and meaningful. It may be about fractured relationship, debilitating emotional struggles, over-reliance on a substance, the grip of social media, the persistence of trauma, or elusive life balance. Or you may wish to deepen progress you’ve already made in making a life worth living. I offer the wisdom and skills that come from over 30 years working in mental health. My 20+ years as a licensed therapist have included direct work with people of all ages and in all combinations, often as I also served in leadership positions in residential programs. My primary approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), including ACT for Trauma. Depending on what is useful, I weave elements of Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction. The work I do is informed by Buddhist Psychology, and often includes guidance in the use of specific meditation techniques to bring clarity and growth. My own life has been enriched by my experience as a person in long-term recovery, my dedicated mindfulness/meditation practice, and my immersion in the outdoors wherever my travels take me.

Experienced in treating a wide range of mental health conditions, I am passionate about helping patients improve their overall well-being and quality of life. I have more than 15 years’ expertise in various settings and roles, helping adults navigate struggles with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, ADHD, PTSD, postpartum and related women's mental health issues, grief, and schizophrenia. I value a collaborative approach to treatment, working closely with you and partnering with medical and mental health professionals to ensure comprehensive, individualized care. Improving lives with mental health care begins through collaborative care. That’s why I empower you to take an active role in your treatment, emphasizing education, shared decision-making, and the use of evidence-based practices for diagnosis and treatment. I believe that medication is most effective when paired with therapy, healthy coping strategies, and supportive interventions, so I utilize all approaches to help you achieve your healing needs and goals. Mental health has always been a part of my life. My father worked in mental health as an Occupational Therapist, and my mother was considered a specialist in Autism, ADHD, and IDD as an Occupational Therapist. When I was 9, my brother entered the world with neurodivergence, and I had to adapt and learn quickly to support him. These lifelong experiences led me to become an advocate for patients, driving me to work collaboratively with them, treat holistically, and provide education. Outside of clinical work, I enjoy attending comic conventions, exploring new experiences with my two young children, 3-D printing projects with my husband, thrifting, collecting crystals and minerals, and crafting.
I love working with college students and young adults, helping them identify their values, where they're getting stuck, and how to go after the things they want. I specialize in working with adults with anxiety disorders including Generalized Anxiety, OCD, Social Anxiety, Panic attacks, and specific fears. I help clients overcome their anxiety by approaching, rather than avoiding, their anxiety and anxiety-provoking situations, learning tools and gaining confidence along the way. This can sound scary at first, but the more you do it, the easier it gets.
I can help you manage uneasy emotions by providing a safe, confidential space to explore your feelings without being judged. You will be given tools to manage your anxiety and depressive symptoms that can transform the way you move forward in life.
Know Yourself. Trust Yourself. Be Yourself. At Balanced Mental Wellness, we address the root cause of mental health conditions, rather that treating surface symptoms. Our practice operates from the belief that all individuals are created whole. We combine personalized holistic modalities with innovative medical treatments to promote healing and connection to self. Come Home to Yourself™ We also offer Ketamine assisted psychotherapy and treatment for psychosis through med management.

Hello, I am a therapist with an extensive history of working with clients of all ages who have had to deal with a multitude of mental health symptoms, or just difficulty managing the conflicts that arise for all of us as we attempt to find joy in a complicated world. My style is to be collaborative while providing culturally responsive therapeutic services to children, adolescents, families, and individuals. I look forward to working with clients to enhance their innate abilities to create positive change in their lives, with their relationships, and within the community they interactive with. I feel it is my responsibility to be flexible in meeting the needs of all clients who come to me for therapy. Together we will discover the style of learning that best suits you in order to create an environment safe enough to address the concerns which bring you to therapy at this time. I believe, that for many, reaching out and asking for help, support, or sharing inner concerns can seem like an unattainable process. I also believe that once a person makes the decision to reach out they begin to feel a sense of relief and hope. I feel honored to provide therapy and to be a part of someone's choice to engage in the therapeutic process.
