I enjoy the experience of witnessing my clients release traumatic events from their core. I know and understand, as I have been there myself, what it feels like to feel weighted down by events/emotions that are no longer in existence. I help my clients release these combinations of events and emotions that no longer serve them.

My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment where you can explore your thoughts and feelings, make sense of your relationships, and find meaning in your experiences. I believe in offering comprehensive therapeutic services, which means I may suggest alternative interventions, supports, or treatments that could be beneficial for you. It's important to me that you have access to all the resources you need, both within and outside of therapy. As a proud Colorado native, I have been living in Colorado Springs with my partner and our dog since 2017. Being integrated with my community and providing excellent services to my clients is incredibly important to me. When I'm not working, I enjoy exploring the natural beauty of Colorado and staying connected with the vibrant local culture. If you're ready to take the next step in your journey, I'm here to support you. Let's work together to create a path forward that feels right for you.
Are you struggling with feelings of disconnection and isolation? Are you too self-critical or perfectionistic and want to work on your self-esteem and sense of self? Do you want to learn how to let go, have fun, and live in the moment? Do you want to get more in touch with your playful and creative inner child? Does the idea of doing improv comedy make you feel nervous, but you’re intrigued? Do you like to laugh? Within a small, supportive group of 4-7 people that meets for eight weeks, you will learn how to be more compassionate towards yourself so that you can feel calmer and more connected to other people, more often! You will practice your self-compassion skills in real-time through tailored improv comedy exercises that are designed to support you on the path toward increasing your self-acceptance and self-confidence. At its core, improv comedy helps you to take risks, make mistakes, and not take yourself so seriously. We will laugh a lot : ) Past clients have said… “I always felt nervous to go, but felt like something had been released after each session." “I love the space to talk about what we are dealing with. I have never been actually excited to go to therapy until finding this group.” "The play and improv was beneficial for my perfectionism because I got to experience just diving into things." "I loved connecting with people who I felt really understood me.” “I am forever changed!”

As a deeply empathetic clinician, I am honored to guide you through your mental health journey. My specialties include helping men, women, and teens navigate life changes, negative self-image, and relationships. I embrace a direct and empowering style, as I believe in the power of the therapeutic alliance, which helps me be your biggest supporter. I look forward to being that source of support for you, collaborating and growing in our work together. In our time together, you can expect a warm and safe environment tailored to your unique goals, as I’m passionate about the belief that healing happens when we feel secure enough to understand ourselves with curiosity rather than criticism. That’s why my approach is always warm, empowering, and grounded in the belief that you know yourself best. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy (REBT) are two treatments we may explore to help you better understand your behaviors and feelings. My own work in therapy showed me firsthand the value in working with an empathetic therapist during times of emotional upheaval, and how empowering it can be to lean more deeply into who we are as individuals. This knowledge strengthened my commitment to providing compassionate care to each of my patients, allowing me to bring a unique perspective to every session thanks, in great part, to the breadth of my life experiences. When I’m not seeing patients, I love being outdoors with my family, learning and exploring new things (including trying new restaurants!), and watching classic movies from the 80s and 90s. I’m also an avid reader, specifically anything Agatha Christie.
Growing up comes with unique challenges at every stage, whether you’re a child, teen, young adult, or family seeking support. As a licensed professional counselor, my passion lies in helping individuals and families navigate life transitions, anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship challenges. Therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and the connection between therapist and patient is at the heart of meaningful progress. That’s why I work collaboratively with you to build a meaningful, trusting therapeutic relationship grounded in a trauma-informed, patient-centered approach. My goal is to offer a safe, inclusive space where you can develop effective coping skills, build self-awareness, and move toward the lasting growth and well-being you deserve. As a person of color, creating a culturally inclusive space is something I hold with great intention. Representation matters, and I strive to offer every patient the opportunity to work with a therapist who can understand and genuinely relate to their lived experience. My approach is integrative and shaped entirely around your unique needs and goals. Within our therapeutic relationship, you'll find a space that is both safe and encouraging, one where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences freely. Drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing, and incorporating art- and play-based techniques when working with children and adolescents, sessions are designed to meet you where you are. Together, we'll work to uncover patterns, work through life's experiences, and build practical coping tools that support your growth. My path to becoming a therapist is deeply personal. My own experiences in therapy, navigating anxiety, and growing up with divorced parents gave me firsthand insight into the power of healing and the importance of having the right support in your corner. That foundation shapes the care and empathy I bring to every session. With four years of experience in private group practice and school-based settings, I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, adolescents, and families through a wide range of challenges. Most recently, as a school-based therapist, I helped young people strengthen focus, build peer relationships, and develop practical coping skills they could carry into every area of their lives. Experience in a day treatment setting has further deepened my understanding of more intensive support needs. This background gives me a strong understanding of today's educational environment and the pressures students and families face, and I am well-equipped to support you in advocating for your needs within the school system. Originally from Chicago, I’ve called Colorado home since 2015. Outside of the therapy room, time with family, friends, and dogs brings me a lot of joy, as does exploring the great Colorado outdoors through hiking and paddle boarding. Trying new restaurants, catching live music, reading, and watching scary movies round out life away from work.

Anxiety, stress, and sadness are a normal part of life. At times these feelings can take over and inhabit multiple area's of life in a profoundly negative way. As a therapist, I offer an empathetic, non-judgmental, supportive, and encouraging space for emerging and young adults to explore area's of life that feel off. I work with my clients to understand the unique experiences brought to counseling. Treating someone as a person, not a diagnosis that needs to be fixed is essential in healing.
Hello, I'm Elissa. Life can be challenging, and managing relationships can sometimes feel overwhelming. But you don't have to face these difficulties alone. Feelings of loneliness, loss of purpose, distance from loved ones, and grief over lost loved ones or unfulfilled dreams are common experiences. In children, behaviors often signal underlying struggles they are facing. I utilize a client-centered, solution-focused approach, incorporating techniques such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing. For children, I also employ play therapy, which has proven effective in addressing their unique needs. These methods help you develop new tools for your 'Life Tool Box,' empowering you to navigate life's challenges more effectively. I hold a Master's degree (MA) and am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. My areas of specialization include family relationships, children's mental and behavioral health, anxiety, depression, grief and bereavement, and trauma. With my experience and expertise, I aim to create a supportive and understanding environment where you can feel heard and validated. Working with me means embarking on a journey towards healing and growth. Whether through telehealth or in-person sessions at my Alamosa office, I am here to support you every step of the way.
