Judy Taub has dedicated nearly 30 years to supporting college students at the counseling center at CU Boulder. As a clinician, she provided individual, couples, and group therapy, while also serving as an administrator overseeing all clinical services. Although she recently retired from CU, her commitment to social work remains unwavering. She continues to offer support and ongoing therapy to individuals facing a range of challenges, helping them develop essential skills and navigate their journeys.
A lot of the students I work with are trying to juggle classes, friends, family, a rigorous academic schedule, all the while trying to maybe work, eat well, get sleep, and figure out what’s next—and it can feel overwhelming. Some deal with stress, anxiety, or low mood, while others are navigating breakups, roommate issues, or just the pressure of having to “have it all together.” I tend to connect best with students who are open to talking things through, even if they’re not sure what they need yet. You don’t have to have the answers or know exactly what you want out of counseling—that’s something we can figure out together. I have worked in higher education prior to starting my private counseling practice, both at Colorado School of Mines and CU Boulder assisting students with their mental health and career direction - I understand the unique pressures students are under, specifically STEM students. As a multicultural woman, I not only have personal experience with historical trauma, intergenerational trauma, and women's issues, but I also specialize in grief and loss, sexual assault/violence, suicidality, relationship issues, transitional difficulties, depression, anxiety, identity formation, and more. With experience serving ages 12-adult, I aim to create a safe space to explore an array of different obstacles within the human experience to leave my clients feeling empowered and heard. Therapy Dogs offer a very unique type of support for mental health: nervous system regulation, somatic processing, grounding skills, relationship skills, general improvements in mood, etc. Wonton & I have been a partnered therapy team since 2018 & we offer a warm, non-judgmental approach to facilitate the challenging work of therapy.
