Therapists for college students near San Francisco, CA
Hi, I'm Dr. Monica. I know that life can sometimes feel overwhelming – whether it's the weight of anxiety, navigating grief, or dealing with the unexpected. With over 25 years of clinical experience, I offer compassionate, direct, and unstuffy support to help you feel more grounded and less stuck. I specialize in anxiety, pet loss and grief, and trauma, but also work with clients on relationship challenges, stress, and major life transitions. Therapy with me feels like having a real conversation – no judgment, just understanding. Together, we’ll untangle the thoughts that keep you up at night and work toward finding more calm, clarity, and even a little humor along the way. If you’re unsure about starting therapy, I offer a brief 15-minute consultation to help you decide if I’m the right fit for you. You're not alone in this, and I’d be honored to walk alongside you. I am authorized to provide virtual therapy in CA, TX and all PSYPACT participating states (Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands).
If you are struggling with adjusting to college life, anxiety, depression, or difficult emotions, I can help. My style is warm, engaging, and open. I will create a safe place for you to explore yourself, heal, and get guidance. I specialize in building a healthy relationship with yourself first and foremost, and also with people around you. I welcome people of all backgrounds and cultures to my practice. I use Internal Family Systems (IFS) and other mindfulness-based, experiential, emotion-focused approaches that will help you cultivate self-compassion and acceptance. I look forward to talking with you!
With parents from two different continents and a childhood in a third, I am a product of globalization. I am incredibly curious about how we exist and make choices in this increasingly complex world of enmeshed culture and fractured identities. Knowing I wanted to approach therapy in a unique manner, I studied Drama Therapy. With that knowledge base, and previous experience in improvisational theater and fine art, my approach veers toward the embodied, the sensory, and the creative. I work mostly conversationally, but enjoy tangents into creative expression to bypass well-worn defensive structures of the overly-relied-on brain.

Are you a person of color, LGBTQ, or woman-identified student in medicine or science? Have you been wearing that superhero cape for far too long? Ready to feel more peace in your life? You’ve come to the right place. I’m Dr. Lindsey Brooks and I work with underrepresented achievers. I’ll help you feel more grounded, balanced, and resilient. In my former position at UCSF Student Health, I worked with hundreds of students on these issues and I'd be thrilled to offer you support. I accept the Lyra Health Plan which now provides in-network benefits for all University of California students. You might be thinking to yourself: ”I need to keep it all together”, “If I just work harder and push myself more, then everything will be okay”, “I have to stay strong for my family” or “No one understands all this crap I deal with every day”. Everyone around you sees you as a success, yet something still feels like it’s missing. We will work together to help you feel more at ease, empowered, and maybe even allow yourself to be imperfect once in a while. When you begin to accept all the parts of yourself with compassion, things begin to change. You find your voice. I look forward to discovering your voice together. If you are seeking a therapist who is: social justice minded, an anti-racist ally, sex positive, feminist, bisexual+ affirming, and who has experience working with students in science and medicine, let’s talk. I know it can be daunting reaching out for therapy - to let in support, to try to find the right fit, to allocate the resources & time. When I was a senior in college, therapy truly saved my life - but I so remember how long it took for me to be able to make that first call. So props to you for exploring! If we end up working together, you will likely share a lot about you. So here’s a little bit about me: I’m a white (French, British, and German heritage), queer, cis-woman from a middle-class background who is able-bodied (with some lived experience of chronic illness). I’m often dreamy, sensitive, irritable, passionate, anxious, patient, funny. I love humor, music, sour gummy worms, Rihanna, poetry, shoes, crying, and books. I’m passionate about social justice and art. I grew up in a coastal town so the ocean feels like home. I startle easily. I love singing and songwriting. Some of the big themes I’ve grappled with during this lifetime are: grief & loss; sexuality & sexual orientation; gender; body image and eating disorders; depression; anxiety; addiction and relationships with family members struggling with addiction; containment; perfection; co-dependence & attachment; sexual trauma; disconnection from creativity; betrayal, infidelity, & trust; monogamy & ethical non-monogamy; suicidality. And here's a bit about my therapy practice: I offer therapy for individuals & partners experiencing a broad range of life challenges. And, I have extensive experience in supporting folks as they navigate the following content areas: communication & relationship issues; grief & loss; identity; trauma; sexual orientation, sexuality & sensuality; creativity; systems & lived experiences of oppression; anxiety & fear; depression; co-dependence; addiction; infidelity, betrayal & trust; and inner-child work. I’m sex-positive, queer, and poly- & kink-affirming, and welcome all ethnic & racial identities & positionalities. The therapy that I offer is depth-oriented and strongly rooted in Gestalt & somatic modalities, as well as intersectional feminism. It is trauma-informed and client-centered. For those that are interested, I also enjoy using intuition, creativity, and the imaginal realms (imagery, visualization, experiential exercises, art, dreamwork, etc.) to support our explorations. If none of that means anything to you (understandable!), here's a *hopefully* less-jargon-y description of how I approach my work as a therapist: I fervently believe that you (and only you) are the authority of your experience. I am here to offer my curiosities, intuition, and reflections — in dialogue with you — to help you explore and discover your truth. I am interested in meeting you wherever you are in the present moment, supporting you to increase your awareness. It is my belief that only by increasing our awareness can we increase our felt experiences of agency and choice…which in turn allows us to live a more empowered, aligned, compassionate, and enlivened life. I care deeply about creating a safe container in our therapeutic relationship — to respect boundaries, to always track for consent and choice, to unambivalently welcome all parts of you, to fervently support both your safety and aliveness. I am passionate about and invested in exploring power, positionality, and privilege. I welcome and support difference, and am committed to efforts to not perpetuate authoritarian and oppressive systems in the therapeutic relationship. I honor & trust the massively creative and adaptive survival strategies that you have developed to keep you safe. And, I also honor the ways that the habitual enacting of those survival strategies may no longer be serving you — that your circumstances and capacities may have outgrown these mechanisms, and that you may need some support in this vulnerable re-emergence into the world. I will sit with you in your suffering. I’m not afraid of the darkness, or of your shadow. I will go to the depths with you. And stay there, in the underworld, with you for as long as you need…until you emerge anew on the other side. I believe that, together, we can co-create a homecoming for you. That our work can guide you home to your innate nature — to your authentic expression of your many parts of self. To your passion and presence and joy. To your aliveness. To feeling deeply nurtured and nourished. A return to self in which you come to truly and intimately know yourself for the first time. I so looking forward to hearing from you & seeing if we might be a good fit to work together, should you choose to reach out!

I have been a licensed Therapist for over 25 years. I have worked primarily with teens and young adults, but also with adults up through the age of 65. Much of my current practice is with young men, supporting them to overcome anxiety, depression, interpersonal and relationship challenges, life transitions, substance and alcohol use, and other related challenges. At this point I am only providing on-line therapy/telehealth. I offer free 15 minute consultations.
If you are human, learning and living in today's complicated environment, you have probably experienced anxiety, stress and sadness. Therapy is like personal training or tutoring for feelings; it's curated one on one support to help you reach your emotional wellness goals. While totally normal, emotions can be difficult to navigate and result in suffering, numbing out with substances, acting against values, development of physical pain/illness and/or avoidance of situations and people. When emotions start to interfere with life, therapy can help. Inflow Wellness is a psychotherapy and coaching practice dedicated to helping people manage stress, re-establish life balance, and feel better through life's challenges; simply put- to ride waves of emotion and become more aligned in mind, body and heart.
Each person comes to therapy for unique and personal reasons. You may be feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or undervalued in your relationships or career choices. You might be very good at taking care of others, but don’t pay as much attention to yourself. You may not fit into conventional categories with how you identify, or how others relate to you. I am a licensed clinical psychologist who empowers folks like you to connect to their authentic selves and make meaningful changes in their life. I frequently work with graduate students, and specialize in working with underrepresented communities, including BIPOC and LGBTQ+ clients, creative thinkers, artists and activists. I welcome clients of all backgrounds, genders, sexual orientations, races, faiths, and abilities.
Hello! My name is Natalie and I’m a therapist who began my career working at a nonprofit where I provided therapeutic support to children, young adults, and parents, and I transitioned to private practice work in 2018. I enjoy providing therapy to a wide range and diverse group of clients, and I particularly love working with college students and young adults since I’m able to offer support during a time of life that often involves significant changes and transitions. I like to conduct therapy in a way that is positive, open, non-judgmental, and culturally-sensitive, and I am flexible in working with each client in a way that best suits his or her specific needs. I have experience working with clients experiencing a range of emotional and behavioral difficulties, particularly anxiety, depression, ADHD, Autism, learning differences, low self-esteem, and social/relationship challenges, among others. I incorporate elements of various types of therapy into my work, but Iprimarily utilize Cognitive Behavioral Therapy to help clients determine if some of the thinking and behavioral patterns they engage in can be altered to produce desired changes. I work with clients to develop their coping skills, self-awareness, insight, and ability to communicate effectively in order to help them lead more satisfying and successful lives. I truly love the work that I do since it allows me the opportunity to help and witness people make positive changes in themselves and their lives. Please feel free to contact me; it would be great to hear from you!

***Currently serving individuals in California and Oregon*** Hello! My name is Carlota, and I am a social justice advocate; a believer in science; a fierce and overly-obsessed dog mom to two wacky pups; an immigrant; and steadfast in my conviction that we have a fundamental obligation to help one another if we have the means and capacity to do so. I am a licensed clinical social worker, and have been in practice since 2013. I completed my undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley in 2008, and received my Master of Social Work (MSW) in 2013 from the Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis. I embrace evidence-based and research-supported therapies, while also honoring the power of the therapeutic relationship and process. I specialize in trauma and PTSD, depression, Bipolar Disorder, anxiety and panic, grief and loss, interpersonal difficulties, and life transitions. I am a trained teacher of Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and am certified in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD and Interpersonal Psychotherapy for Depression (IPT-D). Why might I be a good fit for you? Because I get it, and I am whole-heartedly with you on this journey. I know that coming to therapy is a profound undertaking, and that what I will ask of you in this process is not easy. Introspection, change, and confronting avoidance are hard, and so I strive to provide a safe, authentic, and collaborative environment that honors your story, experience, and identity with compassion and without judgment; I strive to be worthy of bearing witness to your story. ***Sirviendo a personas ubicadas en California y Oregón*** ¡Hola! We need sex-positive, body-positive support for ourselves, our families, and our communities. Individuals, couples, polycules and groups I work with traverse the world with partners, genders, fetishes, or professional experiences that are often misunderstood by the dominant culture. I am in service to your joy, your healing, keeping you connected to a grounded source of abundance, gaining skills to navigate personal and professional dynamics, and being in keen awareness of your power. I’m excited to journey with you toward an embodied, fulfilling relationship with yourself and those you love.
I believe that we each possess a great deal of wisdom that offers guidance in simple (though not necessarily easy) ways for us to embody. Therapy can offer time and space to be heard, seen, and supported exactly as you are, so that you may find a way to move towards where you would like to go. Whatever brings you to therapy, my intention is to hold an open, curious and safe space for you to connect more deeply with your experience and for us to collaborate in finding ways to support you. Some of my areas of interest and experience include: life transitions, anxiety and depression, grief, relationship challenges, self-doubt/"inner critic" and perfectionism, searching for life goals and directions, personal growth. I was trained in Somatic Psychotherapy and also have a background in bodywork, approaching therapy from a holistic lens that welcomes the whole person.
