Jai Madden, MSW, LCSW, is a trauma-informed educator, speaker, advocate, and practicing clinical social worker dedicated to transforming mental health and health services into platforms for profound expressions of health, equity, and justice.

With an educational background that includes a Bachelor’s degree from The Mico University College in Jamaica, a Bachelor’s degree from Assumption University, and a Master of Social Work degree from Boston College, Jai brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to his practice.

Jai’s training encompasses a range of therapeutic modalities, including TF-CBT, TILT, ARC, Solution-Focused Therapy, CBT, Motivational Interviewing, RESPECTFUL framework, and Leaders for Equity and Justice in the Workplace. These diverse methods allow Jai to tailor treatment approaches to meet the unique needs of each client.

With extensive experience in various settings, including residential programs with adolescents on the autism spectrum, school-based counseling, child welfare, inpatient and hospital emergency room social work, Jai has honed his skills in crisis intervention and providing support to individuals facing a wide range of challenges.

Jai’s passion for advocacy and social justice began early in his career when he served as a youth advocate in Jamaica, focusing on reproductive health rights, HIV/AIDS, and LGBTQIA+ issues. This experience shaped Jai’s commitment to supporting marginalized communities and addressing systemic injustices.

Recognizing the limitations and injustices within existing systems, Jai made the decision to pursue a career in social work. This new path allowed him to not only navigate systems on behalf of his clients but also provide therapeutic support to help them overcome their challenges.

Jai’s clinical areas of interest include crisis interventions, ADHD, addictions/recovery, career counseling, domestic violence, grief & loss, LGBTQIA+ issues, trauma, depression, anxiety, empowerment, relationship concerns, men’s issues, personal growth, DEI, and incorporating social justice perspectives into clinical treatment.

In his practice, Jai adopts a client-centered approach that considers the holistic needs of each person. By utilizing a combination of evidence-based techniques and personalized strategies, he helps clients achieve optimal functionality in all aspects of their lives.

Jai’s dedication to sustainable change is exemplified by his contributions to major conferences such as The New England Association for College Admissions Counseling and the International AIDS Conference in Washington, DC. He has also leveraged his expertise in policy and program development to draft anti-racist initiatives for the Department of Children and Families.

Embracing the belief that every individual is naturally creative, resourceful, and whole, Jai strives to empower his clients to set their own goals and achieve their full potential. With his guidance and support, clients can experience transformative change and regain control over their lives.
